The honeybee populations have faced massive collapses around the world and are even on the endangered species list. This song is a conservation hymn to raise awareness of Colony Collapse Disorder, the scientific term for the loss of bee life. However, it has been proven that a specific pesticide called neonicotinoids is the culprit. France banned neonicotinoids and their honeybee populations rebounded within a year! We MUST protect our friend the honeybee, who is so very taken for granted. The more I learn about this selfless creatures, the more they fascinate me.
As Albert Einstein warned: "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man."
lyrics
No one really appreciates me
given all the selfless work I do for free
Trying hard just to feed my family
Some days it’s so tough just to be me
Fly under the radar - stay out your way
Call me a pest at any rate
I stop and smell the flowers everyday
never thought that would be a mistake
Cause your stinging me - blow smoke in my eyes
and your burning me - i’m losing my mind
Can’t you see - Just let me be
Please just let me be a bee
Don’t think I can make it on my own
I’m just not built to be alone
Need a dancing partner to get along
No one’s at home - so I won’t last for - long
And your killing me - I can’t find a meal
Cause you poison me - no swarm left in the hive
Can’t you see - Just let me be
Please just let me be a bee
Mmmmm Mmmmm
Cause your stinging me - blow smoke in my eyes
and your burning me - i’m losing my mind
And your killing me - I can’t find a meal
Cause you poison me - no swarm left in the hive
Can’t you see - Just let me be
Please - just let me be
Please - just let me be a bee
